Emily Joof

Author Emily Joof, born in 1984, works as a Global Education Technical Advisor at Save the Children. She has previously written several children’s books with themes of inclusion and diversity from an afro diasporan perspective. The Big Blue is her first book at Rabén & Sjogren, with illustrations by Matilda Ruta.

Throughout her career, Joof has devoted herself and her work to children and young people from marginalized groups, and has had a prominent presence in the debate about inclusion in children’s literature here in Sweden. Emily is also a multicultural mother of two young children who has inspired her writing. She has lived in five countries and speaks as many languages.

She loves thunderstorms and belly laughs.
