Johan Egerkrans

Author and illustrator Johan Egerkrans is widely recognised for his work in reinterpreting Nordic folklore in his works Norse Gods and Fairy Creatures of the North. His descriptions and depictions of gods and heroes, and giants and dwarves have been acclaimed by critics and readers alike. Egerkrans has worked as a professional illustrator and concept artist for more than two decades, producing artworks for books, games, comic books and films.

Norse Gods is a thrilling recreation of Norse mythology where the reader is swept along from the fateful creation story of the killing of Ymer by Odin and his brothers, to the final terrifying destruction of the gods at Ragnarok.

The Undead extends Egerkrans’s vision to the ghouls and the macabre creatures of other cultures, depicting over forty examples in all their grisly detail. The book not only describes their frightening powers, but fortunately offers advice on how to protect ourselves from them as well.

Also obsessed with palaeontology, Egerkrans has authored and illustrated four books on the natural history of dinosaurs, pterosaurs and other extinct creatures.
