Lotta Olsson

Lotta Olsson, born in 1973 in Helsingborg, has lived in Stockholm since the 1990s, and she started her writing career early. Her debut took place in 1994 with an acclaimed collection of sonnets: Shadows and Reflections. Five years later, her first children’s book, Prata persilja, was published, illustrated by Maria Jönsson. At this point, she has written about thirty children’s books and has continued with poetry, prose and drama for adults as well. Her distinct personal style is rap, elegant and engaging. She has been a diligent daily verse poet in Expressen and is also a valued translator – a master of rhyme.

Lotta Olsson has been awarded several prizes, including the Lennart Hellsing prize (2010). In 2011, she, together with the illustrator Maria Nilsson Thore, was nominated for the August Prize for the children’s book Strange Animals.
