Astrid’s Christmas Table – Recipes from a Childhood/Min barndoms jul – Astrid Lindgrens julkokbok
Astrid Lindgren’s stories have long shaped the Swedish idea of Christmas wherein food often plays a decisive role. Finally, here comes Astrid’s Christmas Table, a richly illustrated Christmas cookbook with irresistible recipes of classic dishes and treats from places such as Astrid’s beloved childhood home Näs, as well as the homes of the much loved characters she created!
With everything from gingerbread baking alongside the children of the Noisy Village, to a magnificent Christmas tree looting with Pippi, the book takes the reader through the holiday season with familiar tales as well as never before published stories and personal texts. The book is richly illustrated with illustrations from old favourites, as well as private photos from Astrid’s personal archive, and also recently taken pictures of a Näs decked out for Christmas!
Meal historian Richard Tellström contributes cultural history texts about Christmas food and traditions, and Fredrik Eriksson, one of Sweden’s most award-winning and experienced chefs, is behind the recipes. He runs several restaurants and is a gastronomic advisor to the Nobel Foundation and has been involved in the food development at Astrid Lindgren’s World.
