Kitoko/Kitoko

Kitoko has an amazing ability—she has her own fantasy world into which she sometimes disappears. Here she meets her friend Connal, who has answers to difficult questions, and here Kitoko can visit special memories. For example, the one where Mom went away on an important mission and never came back, or when Kitoko and her dad had a snack and looked at apartment ads together.

One day, Dad has no energy for anything, not even getting out of bed. Dad always says, “There is hope,” but even though Kitoko searches all over the apartment, she can’t find it. Maybe Connal can help her find hope?

Kitoko is a picture book that engages. A difficult life is described with much warmth. The forces of love and imagination are here shown to be crucial to get through rough times.
