Ingrid Vang Nyman, 1916–1959, the Danish artist moved to Sweden in the 1940’s. She was the first illustrator to work with Astrid Lindgren. She was strong in her belief that also children were to be offered pictures of high artistic quality and substance. Ingrid Vang Nyman is the original illustrator of Pippi Longstocking.
