Terrible Things Nobody Can Know: Flowers of Iron/Fruktansvärda grejer som ingen får veta: Blommor av järn
The monster in the library basement turns out to be Kaa from The Jungle Book, and the person who saves Hedda and Felix is the last adult Hedda expected to see: her father, Olof. Olof is a Reader, someone who can bring characters and creatures out of books, and his hidden life explains more about Hedda’s family than she is ready to know. It also proves that Pinocchio and Cthulhu are not accidents. Someone else in town is using the same power, and that person is far more dangerous. As Hedda, Felix and Olof try to understand how Cthulhu can be controlled, the trail leads out into the winter darkness by a frozen lake. Armed with desperate plans, old knowledge and far too little courage for comfort, Hedda and Felix attempt to kill the monster themselves. The attempt fails, but the book ends with an even greater revelation from Hedda’s mother: Hedda is a Reader too.
Terrible Things Nobody Can Know: Flowers of Iron is the third book in Terrible Things Nobody Can Know, a six-part horror adventure series where classic literary characters and monsters escape from the books from whence they came. Written by well established author Martin Olczak, and sparsely illustrated by Lina Blixt, the series combines school realism, friendship, first-crush awkwardness, literary mystery, and classic horror chills.
