The Land of Twilight/I skymningslandet
Sometimes mom looks so sad! It’s because of my leg which is hurting and keeping me in bed. But when dawn comes, and mom leaves, Mr Lilyvale arrives. I’ll never forget the first time he came to visit. There was a knock on the window and a very small gentleman in a checkered suit and top hat stepped in. “My name is Mr Lilyvale”, he said, “I’m dancing around a bit on the windowsill to see if there aren’t any children who want to come with me into the Land of Twilight. Maybe you want to?” If I did!
He took me by the hand, and then we flew. Yes, we flew, in the pale blue twilight. Above the oak tree below and high above the city where the lights from the windows started to light up the homes… Now Mr Lilyvale comes and picks me up every day to take me out into the Land of Twilight. Because at dawn, when night falls over the city, everything is so lovely! It doesn’t matter if you have an aching leg or if you’re bedridden, because in the Land of Twlight, you can fly instead!
