Handbook for Superheroes
The Handbook for Superheroes series by Elias and Agnes Våhlund revolves around Lisa, a young girl who lives with her aging grandmother. One day, as Lisa is being chased down the street by her school bullies, she escapes into the local library where she discovers a mysterious book called The Handbook for Superheroes. In it, Lisa learns the arts of being a Superhero, such as flying, fighting, talking to animals, and having an exciting alias. Soon Lisa becomes The Red Mask! Her new alter ego allows her to discover the confidence to daringly defeat a gang of thieves, as well as the courage to confront her school bullies.
The series consists of thrilling stories that touch upon serious themes such as bullying, how to find the confidence to believe in oneself, and how discover to the resolve to stand up for what is right. Both entertaining and uplifting, the series is great for self-reading or with a parent. The books are illustrated in a contemporary cartoon style with lots of colourful and atmospheric illustrations.
Married couple Elias and Agnes Våhlund are the mega-brains behind the hugely successful Handbook for Superheroes series.
